Dr. Arielle Jordan is a licensed clinical professional counselor, Veteran, and resilience strategist who helps leaders find clarity, strength, and purpose in the face of challenge. Providing mental wellness training for Veterans and professionals in high stress professions is among her areas of specialized practice.Dr. Jordan

She decided to take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude test just so she could skip a class period. When she graduated, she walked to the nearest recruiting office, which just so happened to be the Army. Dr. Jordan served nine years between the active duty and reserves before a medical discharge.

She attempted to pursue therapy herself but was left feeling invalidated. The trauma she experienced in her own life led her to pursue a career in mental health. Her personal experiences in the Army and the loss of a young child gives her a special “been there, done that” perspective when working with her patients.

Dr. Jordan walks us through some of the indicators people make look for when deciding whether they need to seek therapy. She emphasizes that is not HER job to “fix” the client. They must be engaged and intentional in commitment to improvement. We also touch on the role of medications and tools for mental skill building.

She cites one of the common issues she sees is clients defaulting into comparing themselves to others rather than creating clarity on goals that are their own.

We also discuss the challenges many Veterans face in going from a structured lifestyle to civilian life where there is “no promotion to chase or formation to fall into.” She emphasizes that Veterans must take charge of their own mental health because “no one is coming to save you.”

Dr. Jordan produces a series of YouTube videos called “The Reset”. In these short clips she addresses various topics based upon real evidence-based strategies.
