SSgt Matthew Rosenberg had been assigned Mass Casualty NCO at the Pentagon two weeks before the attacks. He was awarded the Army Soldier’s Medal – the Army’s highest award for valor in action not involving enemy combat for his role evacuating and treating casualties on the fateful day.
